Is safety really the prime concern of those who venture into the Death Zone?

Maybe so for the Sherpas who make a living going there, but not likely for the adventure tourists. Those folks should have to climb the Hillary Step both ways, or have an asterisk attached forever to their names.

Besides, have you read all the warnings they stick on ladders? They’re not even safe at sea level.
