No doubt there are Democrats who would do the same, but Mitch McConnell’s campaign seems to be OK with reinforcing the stigma associated with depression in order to destroy an opponent. In this case, it was used against Ashley Judd.
It’s no surprise that politics is a dirty business, of course. The sad commentary is that having been diagnosed with a mental illness is considered dirt.
The least McConnell could do is denounce such tactics, and he probably won’t even do that.
