A word of many meanings…

Hiatus for greater petrosal nerve

As that link to a Princeton University website reveals, a hiatus can be much more than the commonly understood “break in television programming.”

The word has appeared in the name of a Japanese rock band and a Belgian punk band, and it was the name of an episode in the “30 Rock” television series, if you can believe everything you read on the Internet. (What do you mean, you can’t?)

Now, it also applies to the status of this particular page on the Internet — and I don’t mean it is a natural opening in a membranous structure.

Just taking a break of a duration that has yet to be determined.
